Morphe 350m Eyeshadow Palette…

FullSizeRender 3

The only eyeshadow palette that I have used for the past year or so has been the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and however gorgeous it is I found myself extremely bored and regularly resorted to using bronzer as eyeshadow instead as transitional shades were non existent… Enter the Morphe 350m palette.

I have heard incredible things about this palette but it was not until I tried it that I realised what I have been missing. This is holy grails of eyeshadow palettes, not just because of the easy to blend buttery texture or the hyper-pigmentation, but because of the colours – each colour is completely wearable, which can’t be said about many palettes. The red tones are completely on trend at the moment, with the two colours in the bottom right of the palette being by absolute go-to colours for nights out, with the top two rows being prefect for day looks or transition shades.

This palette costs just over £20 for 35 amazing matte colours and is so much more pigmented than most high-end brands that I have tried – I have not turned back to my Naked 2 palette since and I can’t see myself turning away from Morphe anytime soon – with the next on my list being the 350s so I can see how the shimmer shades compare!

Elle Magazine Giveaway, The New Benefit ‘Goof Proof Brow Pencil’…

Elle are giving away the newest member of the Benefit family, the not yet released ‘Goof Proof Brow Pencil, in their July issue (out now). Because this product is not yet available to buy, Elle readers are the first people able to try it and trust me, this is no sample size! This will probably retail for over £20 once released, so buying this £4.10 magazine is so worth it.

The actual pencil is the same triangular shape as the Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Brow Definer’, however it is harder and therefore easier to use (and hopefully won’t snap as easily either). The only negative I have about this product is that you are unable to tell through the packaging of the magazine what colour product it is and therefore I got 6, which I am guessing is the darkest colour, as the pencil is actually black. Because of the dark colour of the pencil I have to be incredibly light when filling in my brows, but the overall effect is still impressive and natural looking.

Along with the product giveaway, included is also a card which provides readers free second eyebrow wax at a Debenhams Benefit counter after you pay for a first, which is great value for money as Benefit are famous for their waxing.

Lastly, Elle gave readers a sneak preview of the new packaging of Benefit’s eyebrow range, which also includes a couple new products. The new packaging definitely creates a more dramatic feel for these products and I can’t wait to purchase a new Brow Zings and Gimme Brow in this amazing silver form!

April Birchbox…

This month Birchbox said that they were including a Benefit sample for every box, which I was so happy about because I love Benefit and haven’t received anything by them yet. I got the Benefit ‘Dew The Hoola’ liquid bronzer, which is the exact item I wanted as I almost purchased it a couple weeks ago for myself. I absolutely love the original Hoola bronzer, as it really is the perfect shade and definitely isn’t orange, however I am so sad to say that I really don’t think this product lives up to the hype surrounding it. I applied quite a lot and the moment is has buffered into the skin it is almost undetectable and this seems to me pretty pointless. I have a reasonably pale complexion but I definitely have more colour to my skin that a lot of other people so this may be one for the extremely fair girls to try out, as it may show up a lot better. I am still happy I got to try this as I probably would have ended up buying it for myself eventually and would have been more disappointed at paying £20+ for this product.

The second makeup item I received this month is the Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner. I have used this a couple of times and the staying power is incredible, I have mine on for probably around 8 hours and I even caught myself rubbing my eyes unintentionally and this stuff didn’t budge. It is incredibly creamy and pigmented and it glides on like an absolute dream. The only thing is if you are going to smudge it for a smokey effect like I did, do it quickly as it dried fast. Unfortunately, I am and always have been a liquid liner girl and I rarely line my waterline as I have quite small eyes and I don’t like closing them up even more, but I will definitely play around with this a few more times to find a look that suites me because I do really think it’s a great eyeliner.

For my skincare product this month I received the Balance Me ‘Tinted Wonder Eye Cream’. This is a really good concept that I’m surprised many brands have not caught onto yet because it seems the two elements of this product go hand in hand. This is a tinted eye cream that hydrates, plumps and firms the under eyes whilst concealing at the same time. I’m lucky to not suffer from bags or dark circles so personally I can’t see much of a difference, but I don’t tend to with any eye cream, however I can definitely feel my under eyes tightening after application and it definitely makes them feel a lot firmer.

My haircare product was the Parlor by Jeff Chastain ‘Detangling Leave-In Conditioner’. I wasn’t too excited about this product as I received a leave in conditioner by Number 4 a couple of months ago in my Birchbox and I really hated the smell of it so it kind of put me off them but I am happy to report that this one smells so good! It does what it says and detangles really well but I must admit the main reason I apply this is definitely for the smell, so I am super happy with this product.

Finally, my bodycare product is one that I really was looking forward to using but am probably the most disappointed with. The Kueshi ‘Foot Care Cream’ is a foot cream that contains almond oil, royal jelly and tea tree oil so it smells amazing – I absolutely love the smell of tea tree oil, however it is so thing and I love a really thick foot cream that you can put socks on after and let soak in overnight, which is exactly why I love the Soap and Glory foot cream so much. I have used this a few times and there is no need to put on socks afterwards as it really does soak in immediately, but apart from the nice smell I haven’t noticed my feet being any softer.

Beauty Haul…

Chanel ‘Soleil Tan De Chanel’

This product claims to be a “bronzing makeup base”, however I got this product to use as a cream bronzer/contour. This bronzer has a gorgeous velvet mousse/cream consistency, which leaves a more natural and softer finish. I apply this using a Real Techniques buffing brush and use underneath my cheekbones and on my forehead as a contour. This is such a beautiful product and I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Bobbi Brown ‘Shimmer Brick Compact’

This shimmer brick comes in a beautiful compact with a very useful mirror. I use this product as a highlighter and got it in the shade “beige”, as this creates a bit more of a darker highlight – perfect for when you have a tan. The shades within this compact range from a light white shade down to a darker brown/bronze shade so it is versatile in terms of the colour highlight you would like to achieve. I have wanted this product for over 6 months now, so I am extremely happy to have added it to my collection.

Nars ‘Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer”

I have always been comfortable with my skin and I usually go day to day without applying any makeup onto my skin, however recently my skin has been getting gradually worse and I found myself using my foundation every day. I decided that I probably need to invest in a tinted moisturizer in order to save my foundation, as well as to not apply such a heavy product on a daily basis. After comparing this tinted moisturizer with both the Laura Mercier one and one from bareMinerals, this definitely came up trumps. It has such a full coverage for a tinted moisturizer and also has such a radiant glow – as the name may suggest. Not only that, but people have been commenting on how good my skin looks without even realising that I am wearing anything on it. This is probably my best investment this year so far. The shade of this product is “Light 3 – Groenland”.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Brow Definer’

I have been using the same palette of Benefit brow zings for about 3 years now and I decided as this one has run out, to try a new product. I have been recommended Anastasia Beverly Hills so many times and have even bought the brow wiz for someone as a birthday present, which they were extremely happy with. So I decided to get the new brow definer, which are similar to the brow products from both Tom Ford and Hourglass, but a bit cheaper. I have this product in the shade “taupe”, as although I have dark brown hair and almost black eyebrows, I don’t like my eyebrows being overpowering and this light shade fills them in without it looking drawn on. This is my first time using a pencil-type product for my eyebrows so I am still getting used to it, but so far so good. I do, however, want to invest in the dipbrow pomade, as I think I still prefer using a brush.

Clarins ‘Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil’

I have quite big lips and they are constantly dry and cracked, no matter how much I apply lip balm. I saw this lip oil and thought that it may be a bit more nourishing and longer lasting. On first impressions, the product is more of a sticky gloss consistency rather than an oil, however it plumps up my lips making them look bigger (which I love) and also leaves them nourished and moisturised for longer than any of my lip balms.

bareMinerals ‘Prime Time’

I have a problem with my eyeshadow staying on all day and find that the product tends to move and my lids become oily. This stuff has changed my life! It is an eyelid primer that creates a smooth surface to apply my eyeshadow on top of and once the shadow is applied, there is no moving it. The product stays on all day/night and looks perfectly matte. I even have to work extra hard to get the product off, with it still feeling matte and dry when covered with water. Great product that I would recommend to anyone!
